Tension pole shelving · design it yourself

Design your shelving wall,
part by part

Slim aluminium poles tensioned floor to ceiling, with the shelves fixed along them — a bookshelf, a display wall or a room divider that needs no cabinet. Draw yours below: the page counts the tube from RM 34 a metre, every fixing and base, and the installation at RM 150 a metre run of width.

The planner

Draw the wall, get the parts list

Pick a pole and its height, drag poles onto the wall, drag wooden shelves across them — then turn it round in 3D.

Drag a pole or a shelf to move it; click one and its buttons appear. Scroll to zoom, shift-drag or middle-drag to pan, pinch on a phone. A shelf is held on every pole it crosses — it needs at least two positions, and each position is a pair of poles, front and back.

What this wall needsCounted from the drawing, at the shop's prices

Nothing on the wall yet. Add a pole, then a shelf, and the parts appear here.

The parts and the shelves go into the cart line by line, replacing any shelving lines already there. Prices are for the parts, the shelves and the installation; the finish of the poles is confirmed with your job.

How it works

Three steps from an empty wall to a parts list

1
Place the poles

Pick the tube and set the floor-to-ceiling height, then drag pole positions onto the wall — one every 800 to 1,000 mm is usual. Each position is a pair of poles, front and back of the shelf, so a shelf on two positions stands on four poles.

2
Hang the shelves

Pick 16 mm MFC in a MIECO colour or 10 mm tempered glass, set the depth, and drag shelves onto the poles, tier by tier — each one sits 50 mm past its poles at each end. Switch to the 3D view to see it standing.

3
Send the parts list

The bill below the wall counts the tube, the fixings, the bases, the shelves and the installation. One button puts it all in the cart for WhatsApp; another exports a PDF with the dimensioned plan, the 3D view and the quotation.

Why tension pole shelving

Shelves without the cabinet

Design it yourself

Draw the wall: how many poles, how far apart, how many shelves and where. The page counts the parts as you go.

No cabinet, no back panel

Slim 11 mm poles braced floor to ceiling and the shelves held along them — light and the view pass straight through.

Every part counted

Tube by the metre, a fixing where each shelf meets a pole, two bases a pole. Nothing guessed, nothing forgotten.

Installed by our team

Priced by the metre run of the width, so the installation is in the figure before you send it.

Your finish, your shelves

Poles in matte black, antique brass, gentleman grey or a custom colour; shelves in 16 mm MFC board in any MIECO colour, or 10 mm tempered glass.

Any room

A bookshelf in the study, a display wall in the showroom, a divider between the hall and the dining room.

What you get

An 11 mm aluminium pole system

A tension pole shelving system is a run of slender aluminium round tubes braced between the floor and the ceiling, with the shelves held on the poles by a fixing at each tier. It stands without a carcass or a back panel, so light and the view pass through it — a bookshelf against a wall, or a divider between the hall and the dining room.

Build it from the four groups: pole tube by the metre run, keyed to the millimetre (one full-length pole, or the hollow threaded tube in a section per tier), a shelf fixing for each shelf on each pole (the flat support plate or the ring collar on a full-length tube; the 8 mm threaded rod on a segmented tube), a top and bottom base for each pole, and the railing fitting and end cap as needed.

The poles come in matte black, antique brass, gentleman grey, a custom anodised colour or spray paint. The shelves are 16 mm MFC board in any MIECO colour at RM 250 a m², or 10 mm tempered glass at RM 450 a m² — sized on the planner, 50 mm past the poles at each end. The finish of the poles is confirmed with your job.

Questions

Before you order

How does the planner count the parts?

Each position on the wall is a pair of poles, one at the front edge of the shelf and one at the back (a single row if the shelf is fixed to the wall behind it). Each pole is one length of tube, floor to ceiling, so the tube is the number of poles × the height, by the metre run. Each shelf is held on every pole it crosses, so there is one fixing per pole per crossing — four for a shelf on two positions. Each pole has a base at the top and one at the bottom. Railing fittings and end caps you set yourself.

Round tube or hollow threaded tube?

The round tube is one full-length pole, fixed with a flat support plate or a ring collar at each shelf. The hollow threaded tube comes in a section per tier, joined with an 8 mm threaded rod where each shelf sits. Both are priced by the metre run.

How is installation priced?

At RM 150 per metre run of the width of the shelving — the span from the first pole or shelf to the last. The planner measures it from your drawing and adds it as a line of its own; untick it if you are fitting the system yourself.

What are the shelves, and what do they cost?

16 mm MFC board at RM 250 a m², in any MIECO colour — the same board colours as our Board Planner, picked in the planner — or 10 mm tempered glass at RM 450 a m². The planner sizes each shelf 50 mm past its poles at each end, by the depth you set, and prices the area.

Can I keep a copy of the design?

Yes — “Export PDF” under the bill makes a PDF with the elevation and its dimensions in metres (each pole's position, each shelf's height and width, the overall size), the 3D view, and the quotation line by line. The design also stays in your browser until you clear the wall.

How far apart should the poles be?

A pole every 800 to 1,000 mm is usual for a book-laden shelf; wider for lighter display shelves. A shelf needs two poles at least — the planner marks any that have fewer.

Which finishes are there?

Matte black, antique brass, gentleman grey, a custom anodised colour or spray paint. The finish does not change the part prices; tell us which you want when you send the cart.
